Caldeira Velha near Lagoa do Fogo (Fire lake) on Sao Miguel island. I had planned to photograph this location the previous afternoon but the light was a tad too harsh and the hot spring bathing pool full of locals. At 8a.m.- in soft diffused light - i had the place to myself; and time for a much needed steep in the natural hot tub following two days sleeping in a hire car
